Feeling anxious
Breathe in through your nose for the count of 4, and out for a count of 8
Take off your shoes and walk barefoot in the grass.
Move your body- do some squats and star jumps. Pay attention to how your body feels with each movement.
Imagine the voice of someone you love and trust telling you it will be okay.
Sit under your fave tree and feel its trunk beneath your fingers. Take the time to marvel at how wondrous nature is.
Mentally list 5 things that bring you joy and focus on those things for 5 minutes

I feel irritated
Call a trusted friend and vent
take a walk to the beach or a park.
Pat your dog or cat. Spend time talking to it and feel the calm wash over you.
Reframe the negative thoughts. For example, instead of thinking ‘they are totally disregarding my feelings’, switch it to ‘I wonder what is going on for them’.
Take a break. Get away from the source of your irritation.
Help someone in need. Volunteer at a soup kitchen or help an elderly neighbour.
Sit with the irritation and acknowledge it. Make a deal with yourself that you will feel it for 10 minutes and then you will let it go.

I feel jittery
Avoid caffeine, drink a mug of herbal tea instead.
Find a beginners yoga class online or head to your local studio.
Practice box breathing. Exhale to a count of four, hold your lungs empty for a count of four, inhale to a count of four, then hold air in lungs for a count of four before releasing and starting pattern again.
Get outdoors and walk briskly.
Rub your ears- yes sounds weird, but there are energy points that run through our ears so whenever we pull or rub our ears we can reduce nervous tension.
Try a manta meditation. Find somewhere quiet to sit and repeat a mantra. For example ‘I feel safe…I feel loved… I feel calm. With eyes closed repeat the mantra over. When your thoughts drift, gently come back to the mantra and sit with it for 5-10 minutes.

I feel depressed
Get outdoors and walk briskly
Think of three good things that happened during your week.
If your kids have a trampoline get on and jump (this helps me all the time).
Take a cold shower or dive into cold water. Do it …I promise it will help.
Write down three things you are grateful for. Imagine what life would be like without these things and truly feel the gratitude that comes with awareness.
Book an acupuncture session.
Listen to some good music.
Speak nicely to yourself. Instead of saying something like ‘I’ll never be able to do it’ say ‘I can do small things each day to improve.’
Get out in sunlight first thing in the morning and in winter use infrared light.
